CORRECTION: Pregnancy Pointers
In the Pregnancy Pointers item (Capsules, December 2003, page 18: abstract and commentary of Pregnancy diagnosis and abnormalities of pregnancy in the dog. Kustritz MVR. PROC WILD WEST VET CONF, 2003, pp 774-781) the following statement appears: "At present there are no accurate, commercially available serologic tests for pregnancy diagnosis in dogs."

Regarding serologic tests for pregnancy diagnosis in dogs, the relaxin assay (Witness-Synbiotics, San Diego, CA) is an accurate test on or after 24 to 48 days from ovulation. The test cannot be used to determine fetal viability and will
not reflect pregnancy loss immediately after induced or spontaneous abortion. The author regrets any confusion.
