Controlled substance compliance is critical for all veterinarians—both to comply with federal regulations and to ensure that loss or unauthorized use of controlled substances does not occur. In veterinary practice, there are some common ways noncompliance may occur, potentially leading to theft of controlled substances or even consequences for the practitioner’s DEA registration.
