About This Course
Although there are many pre-, pro-, and synbiotics currently marketed for use in animals, quality control issues may be experienced with some products, and not all have the same effects on the GI microbiota or immune responses. The purpose of this lecture is to provide the audience with a review of what is known about these supplements currently being used in dogs and cats, with a focus on peer-reviewed published studies. Emphasis will be placed on the effects of probiotics on gastrointestinal health and those probiotics that have been proven to have immune-enhancing effects.
