Renata S. Costa, DVM, MPhil, MANZCVS, GradDipEd, is an anesthesia resident at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. Dr. Costa earned her DVM from Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil. She earned her master’s degree and graduate diploma in education from and completed a specialty training program at Murdoch University in Australia. Dr. Costa is a member of Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists, Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia Chapter. Her interests include locoregional anesthesia, pain management, low-stress handling, and anesthesia of critically ill patients.
Alicia Z. Karas, DVM, MS, DACVAA, teaches at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University, where she earned her DVM and completed a residency in anesthesia. She is also the hospital director at Tufts Veterinary Emergency Treatment & Specialties in Walpole, Massachusetts.
Stephanie Borns-Weil, DVM, DACVB, is an assistant professor of clinical sciences at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University, where she is also the head of the Animal Behavior Clinic. Her interest is companion animal behavior, with a special focus on aggression issues.
