Association of Shelter Veterinarians Launches Updated Guidelines
The ASV has just released the second edition of the Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters. The Guidelines, created as a resource for the housing, husbandry, medical and behavioral care of shelter animals, have been updated to include expanded research and information in the field of shelter veterinary medicine.
Veterinarians Needed to Participate in 2022 AHS Survey
The deadline to submit survey data for the 2022 AHS Heartworm Incidence Survey is March 15, 2023. The data will be used to build maps to provide insights for veterinary professionals about trends in heartworm incidence and the spread into new areas.
Association of Shelter Veterinarians Launches New Academic Journal
The Association of Shelter Veterinarians (ASV) has launched the Journal of Shelter Medicine & Community Animal Health (JSMCAH)—the first academic journal devoted to shelter and community medicine. It will provide evidence-based research impacting the welfare of animals in shelters and communities for veterinarians around the world.
17th Triennial Heartworm Symposium Presents New Treatment Protocols
The symposium took place September 8-11, 2022 and featured 40 speakers from three continents. Highlights included the development of new animal models to allow the investigation of future preventives and treatments without the need for laboratory dogs and a call to develop better protocols for feline heartworm disease.
Merck Launches New 2-in-1 Oral Vaccine vs. Canine Respiratory Pathogens
Merck Animal Health announced the launch of Nobivac® Intra-Trac® Oral BbPi, the first-of-its-kind oral Bordetella bronchiseptica-canine parainfluenza virus vaccine that offers mucosal protection with easy oral administration to more efficiently deliver broad protection for dogs while enhancing ease of use for veterinary clinicians.

CATalyst Council Announces Grants for Increased Cat Healthcare
The grant program is intended to advance initiatives that increase the medicalization of cats. Grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded and can be applied across a broad array of topics that fit within the umbrella of healthcare for companion cats. The deadline for applications is October 15th, 2022.
Vetoquinol Launches New Pet Rehabilitation Training Program
The new program, Vetoquinol Rehabilitation Business Solution (VeRBS), will help veterinary clinics jump-start rehabilitation services by offering on-site training for staff and up to 140 hours of continuing education credits.

MYOS CORP Announces Study on Fortetropin in Dogs Accepted for Publication
The new peer reviewed study, which examines the impact of Fortetropin® on the quality of life and mobility in arthritic, geriatric dogs, has been accepted in the Canadian Veterinary Journal. The study found statistically significant improvement of the mobility scores for dogs in the treatment group that received Fortetropin.
