Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) is a common feline retroviral disease that can prove challenging to diagnose. Cats generally require multiple tests to confirm infection, presenting a diagnostic challenge for veterinarians. FeLV can lead to serious outcomes, including immunosuppression, anemia, and lymphoma, all of which can contribute to significant morbidity and reduced life expectancy in affected cats.1 Although there is no cure for FeLV, vaccinations and management strategies can help prevent this deadly disease.
