What is Atinvicitinib?

Atinvicitinib is a new treatment option for management of allergic dermatitis, including atopic dermatitis, in dogs.1-3

Pharmacology of Atinvicitinib

Atinvicitinib is a Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor with a high selectivity for JAK1. By inhibiting JAK1, atinvicitinib inhibits the function of various proinflammatory, pruritogenic, and allergy-related cytokines.

Contraindications of Atinvicitinib

Atinvicitinib is contraindicated in dogs hypersensitive to it. The drug has not been studied in dogs that are pregnant, lactating, or intended for breeding or in other species. 

Adverse Effects of Atinvicitinib

Atinvicitinib appears to be well tolerated. Adverse effects (eg, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, lethargy) were reported in <10% of dogs.1

Atinvicitinib does not impair the immune response to vaccination.1
