Saying Goodbye to Uganda

Now that our time in Uganda is winding down, we left Kisoro to head back towards the Bwindi area again.

After another successful day vaccinating dogs, we headed back into the rainforest. We were greeted by l'houst monkeys and baboons and watched the sunset over the mountains.

The next day, we had more time in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (where we saw the gorillas back in blog 1). Our static clinic was set up on top of a hill overlooking a lush valley with rolling mountains in the background, and we were visited by curious cattle, sheep, goats, and of course, the dogs.

We are tired but invigorated, and this drive has been such a special time. Our local volunteers are incredible people who have worked so hard at translating, navigating, educating locals and spreading awareness. It will be hard to say goodbye to them as well as the rest of our Mission Rabies team members. Together we were able to vaccinate over 3000 dogs!

This won’t be a trip we forget anytime soon.
