Euthanasia: Can We Say No?

We are the only professionals that are taught how to euthanize a loved one. I am not talking about disconnected killing like that done by slaughterhouse workers. I am not talking about wildlife rangers that have to take the life of a potentially dangerous animal. I am talking about euthanizing a sentient being, a member of the family, generally something with a name, the principal element in the human-pet bond.
